In this new episode, we are showing you how to make this tasty gluten-free apple crumble recipe, perfect for any lunch or dinner!

Warm apple recipes are always welcome to the table during winter. Apple crumble is one of those apple desserts everyone should have in their back pocket. It works well as a dessert with a big scoop of ice cream, or as breakfast with some plain whole-milk yogurt.

Fruit crumbles are very easy to make and only require a few ingredients. This homemade apple crumble recipe is refined sugar-free as well as gluten-free, which makes it even more tempting! The crumble topping is made without oats and coconut sugar is used to replace the brown sugar. It also gives an incredible original flavor to this apple crumble.

As for the filling, there is nothing better than tender caramelized apples coated with cinnamon. We love easy dessert recipes and are so happy to share this one with you today!

We truly can’t wait for you and your family to try this crumble recipe!

4.5 oz (128g) - Coconut sugar

4.5 oz (128g) - Almond flour

7.5 oz (213g) - Butter

We advise that you prepare all the above ingredients before starting.

You will typically need: a scale, measuring cups, mixing bowls.

Crumble Topping

1 - Add all ingredients to a food processor, making sure the butter is cold.

Tip: Here, we are using the excellent Breville Sous Chef food processor.

2 - Then, pulse a few times to combine and reach a breadcrumb consistency.

3 - Finally, transfer the crumble to a food container and set aside in the fridge.

Caramelized Apples Filling

1 - Using a speed peeler, peel the apples before chopping into cubes, discarding the cores.

Tip: We recommend you use a chef's knife for this task. We love Japanese knives and recommend this quality kit from GLOBAL for home and professional chefs. We also love this reversible cutting board with integrated hand grips from John Boos.

2 - Transfer the apples to a large bowl. Then, zest in the lemon using a microplane zester.

Tip: We store our ingredients in these mixing bowls from Duralex while cooking. We love Duralex for their quality products and low prices!

3 - Roll the lemon on the cutting board, exercising a small pressure. This will help you squeeze out more juice from them. Then, cut them in half and squeeze them over the apples.

4 - Transfer the apples in a deep saucepan (or like us a saucier pan), then add the water, xylitol, and cinnamon. Finally, give everything a mix to coat the apples.

Tip: All-Clad is the gold standard for professional quality stainless steel cookware. If you want to learn more about All-Clad, check out our detailed article "The Ultimate Buyer's Guide To All-Clad".

5 - Place the saucepan on medium heat and allow everything to cook for 10 minutes, stirring from time to time with a silicone spatula

Assembling the Crumble

1 - Preheat the oven to 340℉ (170℃).

2 - To a cast-iron dish, pour in the caramelized apples and spread them evenly.

3 - Then, sprinkle over the crumble topping to cover all the apples. Transfer the dish to the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes.

4 - Once baked, allow the crumble to cool for about 5 minutes. Then, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

5 - Enjoy!
